Official Rules and Conditions

1. Entry. NO ADDITIONAL PURCHASE NECESSARY. You will need a copy of The Sims™ to create Sims skins. To enter, submit your user or screen name, birthdate, email address, type of skin being submitted and all skin files attached via email to SimsContest@maxis.com website, as directed, between January 31, 2002 and February 13, 2002. You may submit multiple skins, but are only eligible to win one prize. The subject line should read, "I'm Hot, I'm Not Contest." All skin files (.BMP, .SKN, .CMX) must be submitted together in a single ZIP file. All entries must be received by February 13, 2002, by 11:59pm PST. Entrants warrant that submissions are original creations and do not violate the rights of any third party. All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Use of a false email account will disqualify an entry. Sponsor is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions, misdirected entries, lost or unavailable network connections or failed, incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, garbled or delayed electronic or other communications. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person who tampers with the entry process or the operation of the web site, or who otherwise violates these rules. By entering, entrants accept and agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and Conditions.

2. Prizes. Winner Selection and Notification. Each winner will receive one (1) two-hundred fifty (250) dollar check. Prizes are not transferable. No substitution of prizes for cash or other goods and services is permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of approximately equal value. Taxes on prizes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the individual winners. Winners will be selected on or about February 20, 2002. The Sims™ staff members, in their sole discretion, will select four winning skins based on Creative Content (80%) and Originality (20%). Decisions of the The Sims staff are final. Winners will be announced on Sponsor's web site and prizes will be awarded after winner selection. Odds of winning depend on relative skill of all eligible entrants. Winners may be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release, in the form provided by Sponsor, within 14 days of notification in order to claim prize. Winners will be notified by an email sent to the email address specified on the Contest submission. If the winner cannot be contacted at this email address, is contacted and does not respond with name and home address (for prize delivery) and other requested documentation within 14 days of notification, refuses the prize or is ineligible to accept the prize, a new winner for that prize may be selected. Prizes will be sent via U.S. Postal Service.

3. Eligibility. This Contest is open to residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada who are 13 years of age or older at the time of entry. This Contest is void in Quebec and Colorado. Employees of Electronic Arts Inc., and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies and the immediate families of each are not eligible. Contest is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

4. General Conditions. Electronic Arts Inc., and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies, are not in any way responsible or liable for damages, loss or injury resulting from participation in this Contest or the acceptance, shipping and/or handling, loss or use of any prizes awarded in this Contest. Winner assumes sole liability for injuries, including personal injuries and/or damage to property, caused or claimed to be caused by participating in this Contest or the acceptance, shipping and handling, loss or use of any prize awarded. Sponsor is not responsible for any failure to contact entrants, whether due to technical or human error. By entering this Contest, entrants agree that Sponsor may post their submission on Sponsor's web site along with entrants' user or screen names and hometowns without any further attribution, notification or compensation to entrants. Entrants further agree that Sponsor has the right to use the submission, entrants' user or screen names and any other information supplied by entrant, in The Sims and in any and all publicity and advertising for Maxis, Electronic Arts, thesims.ea.com or this Contest without any attribution, notification or compensation, except where prohibited by law. Sponsor in its sole discretion may edit and/or modify any submission for publication. Sponsor has the right to cancel, terminate or modify this Contest if it cannot be completed as planned due computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures or other conditions beyond Sponsor's control.

5. Winner list. A winners list will be available in the contest winners space at thesims.ea.com after approximately February 20, 2002 and posted until approximately March 30, 2002, and is also available by sending a stamped, self addressed envelope marked "I'm Hot, I'm Not Skins Contest Winners" to Maxis Web Staff, 2121 N. California Blvd, Walnut Creek, California 94596-3572.
