General Tips

• You can skip work for two days without getting fired
• Use the kid's bed - it is the best bed in the game
• Visit other locations frequently and use the skill objects that are there
• Don't move to a new location until you visit it first - you never know what Malcolm might steal
• Change careers as often as you want to unlock valuable items, socials, and locations - you can switch careers at any time without penalty
• Always buy the best fridge, stove, and food processor wherever you live
• If you don't have enough money to buy everything you need, just sell some items already on the lot - you can… and should… change every location to meet your Sim's needs
• Always hire the maid and the gardener, and make sure you have enough money to pay them both
• Use Hot Tubs often and get other Sims to join you (the more the merrier) - Hot Tubs can satisfy comfort, fun, social, and hygiene all at once
• You only need to complete the promotion goals if you want to get to the mansion, so don't bother doing any other goal if you want to finish the game fast
• The best way to complete the game, however, is to complete every promotion goal in every location - that way you'll unlock all of the best items for skill-building and for motive satisfaction

• Hunger - Combo of best Fridge, Stove, and Food Processor (always unlocked) - have cooking skill of 4 or greater

Mad Scientist Career

Mom's House
• Use toilet
• Eat Mom's food
• Dance or watch TV until fun goal is satisfied
• Get relationship with Mom >90
• Take Fashion Victim job

Mimi's House
• Get relationship to Mimi as high as possible before bus arrives
• Take first bus and get first promotion, unlock drink bar
• Buy drink bar
• Use bookcase to learn two mechanical points
• Repair espresso machine to unlock Repair Man
• Skip next bus
• Use drink bar to gain 3 cooking points
• Visit Club Rubb and use the DJ Booth to gain > 1 creative skill point
• Return to Mimi's and use newspaper to take Paramilitary career
• Move to Dudley's

Dudley's Trailer
• Take bus to get first promotion
• Visit The Octagon and use Robot Monkey Terminal to gain > 2 logic points
• Use newspaper to take Mad Scientist career
• Take bus to get first promotion
• Visit Shiny Things Labs - use Tesla Coil to gain > 2 mechanical points
• Take bus to get second promotion
• Get your relationship to Dudley > 90
• Check your relationship to Mom and Mimi - if they drop below 70, visit them and pump the relationship up - both of them like Compliment, Joke, and Pull My Finger

Goth Manor
• After you get the welcome dialog from Mortimer or Bella, press R2 to achieve the "control another Sim" goal - if you have a female Sim, you can control Bella, if you have a male Sim, you can control Mortimer
• Go to buy mode and sell the two beds - replace them with 3 Kids beds
• Add the best stove, fridge, and food processor to the kitchen
• Buy the Hellagrafix game console and put in a convenient location near two chairs
• (If you need more money, you can sell some of the other items in the house)
• Catch the bus to get both promotions
• Visit Shiny Things Labs - use Tesla Coil to gain 10 mechanical points - do not move to the lab until you have 10 points
• Use the Synthesizer to build creative skill and satisfy fun
• Use the Incubator to build logic skill - you can move some of the plants to the kitchen and main hall to be used as garbage cans
• Use a mirror to build >2 charisma skill points
• This is a great chance to easily upgrade your car - visit Dudley's Trailer and click on the Giant Fern near the wrecked car at the back fence - choose 'Steal Fern' - you'll unlock the roadster!

Shiny Things Labs
• At the lab, you can control both Vaughn and Makino
• When you arrive, direct both Vaughn and Makino to study cooking - they'll make great cooks for your Sim
• Go to buy mode and add the best stove, fridge, and food processor to the kitchen
• Since you should already have 10 mechanical points, you can use the Invention Workbench to produce rocket gnomes - make 5 rocket gnomes
• In buy mode, move the five rocket gnomes outside
• Throw a party - after you see the "party has started" message, launch all of the rocket gnomes and satisfy the Rocket Gnome party goal
• By now you've unlocked all 3 freeplay lots - visit one of them and try to become friends with at least 2 of the residents
• Check your relationships with Mom, Dudley, and Mimi - if any are below 70, visit them to pump it back to >90
• Get both promotions and unlock The Octagon
• Don't bother cooking or cleaning - make sure you hire a Maid and Gardener, and have Vaughn or Makino do all the cooking
• Do not move to The Octagon! Instead, visit The Octagon first, and use the Robot Monkey terminal to build logic skill
• Once you have 8 logic points, you can move to The Octagon

The Octagon
• You can control both General Payne and Maxine Powers at The Octagon
• Be careful! Maxine and the General are mean, and they'll start fighting if you don't take care of them!
• Go to buy mode - move the radio from the bedroom to the main room (with the kitchen)
• Sell the 4 cheap beds and replace them with 4 kids beds
• Add the best fridge, stove, food processor, dishwasher, and trash compactor to the kitchen
• Sell the TV
• Buy a Hellagrafx video game console and place it where the TV was
• Buy the free-standing mirror, and place it somewhere convenient
• Buy a Drink Bar, and place it somewhere convenient
• If you have extra money, buy a Hot Tub and place it somewhere convenient - it will help keep the General and Maxine happy
• Make sure there is plenty of free space neat the front door - Sims tend to get jammed up there when they try to catch the bus
• Return to live mode
• If your creative skill is less than 5, visit Goth Manor and use the synthesizer to build creative skill >5
• If you have less than 8 logic points, visit Goth Manor and use the Incubator to build logic to greater than 8
• Use the free-standing mirror to build charisma skill points - you'll need >4 charisma points to get promoted
• Have the General or Maxine use the Drink Bar and build cooking skill - make them do all of the cooking for you
• Catch the bus, get both promotions, and unlock Malcolm's Mansion
• Don't move to the Mansion yet! Before moving, you'll need cash - keep going to work until you have almost $20,000. When you have $20,000, move to the Mansion

Malcolm's Mansion
• The Mansion is pretty nicely decked out, but you can unlock the Hot Tub Limo if you buy $20,000 worth of stuff for the Mansion
• Go to buy mode
• Buy the free-standing mirror, and place it somewhere convenient
• Spend $20,000 on anything else you like (Hot Tubs are recommended)
• Return to live mode, and you'll unlock the Hot Tub Limo
• You should have almost all the skills you need to get your final promotion by now
• If you need creative, visit Goth Manor and use the Synthesizer
• If you need mechanical, buy a Tesla Coil and place it in the back of the Mansion
• If you need charisma, use the mirror you purchased
• If you need cooking, buy the Drink Bar and use it, or visit Mimi's and use the Drink Bar there
• If you need logic, buy a Robot Monkey Terminal or Incubator and use it, or visit Goth Manor and use the Incubator there
• Check your relationships - you need to have 6 friends
• Visit Mom, Dudley and Mimi to make sure they have a relationship of >90
• Visit a freeplay lot and make sure that you are friends with at least 3 freeplay Sims
• Catch the bus and get your final promotion!
• When you get the final promotion, you'll see an ending movie - there are seven movies in all, one for each career you finish
• After watching the movie, click on the career fountain and choose 'activate' - you'll see a special "career gnome" appear on the fountain - there are seven gnomes in all, one for each career you finish
• Congratulations! You finished a career! Use the newspaper to take another job - you can use these tips to take another career all the way to the Mansion!

Alternate Career - Paramilitary

Dudley's Trailer
• Visit Toane's Gym and use treadmill to gain 2 body points
• Do not move to the gym - instead, stay at Dudley's and keep visiting the gym until you gain 10 body points (once you have >2 body points, you use the Climbing Wall to gain body skill very fast)

Toane's Gym
• After you get the welcome dialog from Max or Goldie, press R2 to achieve the "control another Sim" goal - if you have a female Sim, you can control Goldie, if you have a male Sim, you can control Max
• Go to buy mode and buy 3 kids beds - put them all in the empty back room
• Sell the toaster oven and the small garbage can in the kitchen
• Sell the computer at the front desk, sell 3 of the weight benches, sell the TV
• Buy the best stove, a food processor, and a trash compactor
• Buy the Hellagrafix game console and put it where the TV used to be
• Never cook or clean - make Max or Goldie do it for you
• Manage your time well - only go to work every other day
• Visit The Octagon and use the Robot Monkey Terminal to get 5 logic points
• Visit Shiny Things labs and use the Tesla Coil to gain mechanical skill - do not move out of the gym until you have 8 mechanical skill points
• Become friends with Max or Goldie - they can be difficult, so use Talk a lot, and try to socialize in the Hot Tub
• Watch your relationships with Mimi, Dudley, and Mom. If any drop below 70, visit them to bring it back to < 90.
• Get two promotions and unlock Shiny Things Lab for moving.
